Singer walks off stage mid-concert, reveals health issue

A popular singer is opening up about health issues after walking off stage mid-concert over the weekend. Brandy, 46, abruptly cut her performance short at a co-headlining show with Monica on Saturday at the United Center in Chicago. Monica, 44, finished the concert solo without performing their hit duet, “The Boy is Mine.” “Thank you all for the overwhelming love, support, and — most importantly — your prayers,” Brandy wrote on Instagram. “I sincerely apologize for the abrupt end to last night’s performance in Chicago. After weeks of nonstop rehearsals, last night I experienced dehydration and feelings of wanting to faint. Everyone involved agreed that prioritizing my well-being was of the utmost importance,” she continued. “I still made the decision to try and return and give it my all despite not feeling okay. With having to make some adjustments and the show being very technical, unfortunately, it was impossible to fully connect sonically with the production. I really appreciate everyone’s best efforts.” Brandy said she also went to a doctor near the arena, telling fans she has “taken the proper precautions to help moving forward.” She did not elaborate on what medical precautions she would be taking or give a potential cause for the health issues. According to NBC, social media users complained about Brandy leaving the stage without offering any explanation. Some fans also asked for refunds. Brandy thanked Monica “for stepping up with such grace and professionalism” and vowed to return to the stage Sunday. “Your understanding, patience, and unwavering belief mean the world to me. I look forward to returning to the stage — stronger and more grateful than ever — alongside my girl, Monica, tonight in Indianapolis," Brandy said. Brandy Norwood is an R&B singer known for ‘90s and 2000s hits like “I Wanna Be Down,” “Have You Ever,” “Sittin’ Up In My Room” and the Grammy-winning duet “The Boy is Mine.” She’s also an actress, appearing in movies and TV shows like “Moesha,” “Cinderella,” and “I Still Know What You Did Last Summer,” plus appearances on Broadway and reality TV shows like “Dancing with the Stars” and “Brandy & Ray J: A Family Business.” Monica Arnold, formerly Monica Brown, is an R&B singer who rose to fame at the same time as Brandy with songs like “The First Night,” “Angel of Mine,” “So Gone” and “Don’t Take it Personal (Just One of Dem Days).” She has also appeared on TV shows and movies like “Living Single,” “Felicity,” “Boys and Girls,” “The Voice” and “Monica: Still Standing.”
