Singer David Burke, Aka D4vd, Cooperating With Cops After Teen Girl’s Dead Body Was Found In His Tesla

Rising singer D4vd, born David Anthony Burke, is under investigation following the discovery of 15-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez’s body inside a Tesla registered in his name. The 20-year-old singer is reportedly cooperating with authorities as the police pursue multiple leads and review new evidence in the case.
Though D4vd was reportedly on his Withered World Tour in North America when the teen’s body was discovered, the Los Angeles Police Department has been actively following multiple leads to reconstruct the sequence of events and advance the investigation.
A spokesperson from the department told People, “Several items of evidence were recovered and will be analysed by detectives in the coming days,” adding, “Investigators are following up on several leads.”
New Evidence Found In D4vd’s Car
Authorities recently told People that multiple leads and new evidence have emerged concerning the 20-year-old singer’s car, which is closely linked to the death of the teenage girl. An LAPD spokesperson said on September 18 that detectives from the Robbery-Homicide Division executed a search warrant at a local address connected to Celeste Rivas Hernandez’s death.
Disappearance Of The Victim And Discovery
The 15-year-old was “reported missing from Lake Elsinore” as per the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office’s statement to NBC News. She was first reported missing on April 5, 2024, as per the Los Angeles Times.
Celeste Rivas Hernandez’s remains were discovered on September 8 in a Tesla registered to David Anthony Burke, who began his career as a YouTube creator before gaining fame as a musician. The LAPD launched a formal investigation after residents reported a foul odour coming from the vehicle.
Following this, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office performed forensic testing and confirmed the remains were those of Rivas Hernandez. The cause and manner of her death are still under investigation.
Celeste Rivas Hernandez’s Alleged Connection To D4vd
Amid the ongoing investigation, Rivas Hernandez’s mother told TMZ that her daughter had a boyfriend named David before she disappeared. Social media users also noted that both Rivas Hernandez and D4vd had matching “Shhh…” tattoos on their right index fingers.
A song titled “Celeste” was leaked from D4vd in December 2023, which contains references to the deceased in the lyrics. “In the back of my mind (whoa-oh), you died (whoa-oh) / And I didn’t even cry (whoa-oh), no, not a single tear / And I’m sick of waiting patiently (ooh-ooh) / For someone that won’t even arrive,” he sings, adding “In the back of my mind, I killed you / And I didn’t even regret it, I can’t believe I said it / But it’s true / Do I love you? No, I hate you.”
Later, D4vd explained the meaning of the lyrics in an interview with Genius. He said it was inspired by “the lyrics that came before” the hook and “builds up to the big moment where she died in the back of my mind.”
He added, “I didn’t kill her physically, but in the back of my mind, she died. I’ve seen people online take different meanings and different interpretations from that one part of the song where it’s like, it’s their past selves that’s dying, and they’re not even crying about it because they’re evolved or become better people, or have killed addictions and other different stuff like that.”
After Rivas Hernandez’s body was found, her family launched a GoFundMe on September 18 with the title, “Help Lay Celeste Rivas Hernandez to Rest.”
