Shyne Pledges to Keep Supporting the UDP

After months of internal wrangling and, ultimately, a crushing defeat at the polls Moses “Shyne”. Barrow lost his Mesopotamia seat in the March general election to fellow UDP member Lee Mark Chang, a major blow, however, he intends to fulfill his term until it concludes on November thirtieth. Barrow has pledged to keep supporting the party and even hinted at a possible return in the future. It’s the end of one chapter for the former Opposition Leader, who rose to prominence not just in politics, but also on the international music scene before making his mark in Belizean governance. All attention turns to the UDP’s upcoming convention to pick a new leader.

Moses “Shyne” Barrow, Party Leader, United Democratic Party

“I will certainly support my successor, and I will give my all to United Democratic Party. I just returned from the States. Obviously, I am doing business there in the entertainment world and getting ready for some exciting things. But Belize will always be my home. I’ll be here as much as possible. So I have not in any way walked away from my commitment to a better Belize and I will serve in whatever capacity, whether it’s the private sector or the public sector. Certainly, have not given up on Mesopotamia. I do hope to be the next area representative for Mesopotamia. But in due time. do hope to be the next area representative for Mesopotamia. But in due time. So at this juncture, I will have to make a way for a national convention that does not include me as a candidate. So we are doing all we can, the party chairman, the central executive to ensure. A seamless transition. Obviously we’ve had a civil war and it was quite messy tremendous bloodletting, but I believe we have passed that. And as I said, the party chairman Alberto August are kudos to him and the central executive., all of the members of the team who have worked to ensure that we had constituency, special constituency conventions in all of the constituencies where there were duplicate candidates.”
