Shreyas Iyer discharged from Sydney hospital after successful treatment: Details

Indian cricketer Shreyas Iyer has been discharged from a Sydney hospital after successfully undergoing treatment for an abdominal injury. The injury was sustained during the third ODI against Australia on October 25. Initially thought to be a rib injury, it was later diagnosed as a laceration of the spleen with internal bleeding. A minor procedure was performed to control the bleeding and stabilize his condition. Iyer's recovery has been satisfactory, with the BCCI Medical Team and specialists in Sydney and India expressing their satisfaction. He was able to take phone calls, eat home-cooked meals prepared by local friends, and even do his routine chores on his own. However, he will stay in Sydney for follow-up consultations before returning home after being medically cleared for air travel. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has thanked Dr. Koroush Haghighi and his team in Sydney, as well as Dr. Dinshaw Pardiwala in India, for their role in Iyer's treatment. The board emphasized that they ensured Iyer received the best possible care for his injury. Iyer had sustained a spleen laceration while attempting a diving catch to dismiss Alex Carey during the third ODI in Sydney. He was initially thought to have suffered a rib injury, but it was later diagnosed as a spleen laceration. His condition has since stabilized, and he will return to India once cleared by doctors for air travel.
