Shreyas Iyer's sister urgently flown to Sydney by BCCI as fresh medical update arrives on India star

Team India batter Shreyas Iyer is reportedly recovering after suffering a ruptured spleen and rib cage injury in the final ODI against Australia last week. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is reportedly arranging for his sister, Shresta Iyer, to travel to Sydney and stay with him during his recovery. Shreyas was hospitalized after suffering the injury while fielding during the third and final ODI against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) on Saturday, October 25. The India vice-captain immediately walked off the field, and the team did not require his batting services while chasing down the target. BCCI Arranging For Shreyas Iyer's Sister to Fly to Sydney Shreyas Iyer, who was admitted to a Sydney hospital, has been shifted out of the ICU and is now under close observation by the BCCI’s medical team. According to the Times of India, the board is arranging for his sister to travel to Sydney to be with him and assist during his recovery. "The BCCI is arranging for Shreyas’ sister, Shresta Iyer, to fly to Sydney to join and help him out there soon," the report read. Early reports indicated that Shreyas would require about three weeks for a full recovery. However, his admission to the ICU has raised concerns about the seriousness of his injury. The BCCI Has Done Its Best to Help Shreyas Iyer Out - Devajit Saikia BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed that team doctor Dr. Rizwan Khan has remained in Sydney to supervise Shreyas Iyer’s treatment and recovery. He assured that the board is providing complete support to the injured batter, who is currently receiving care at one of the best hospitals in Sydney. “The BCCI has done its best to help Shreyas out. The BCCI’s doctor (Rizwan) is totally focused on Iyer’s treatment and recovery there. Shreyas has been put up in the best hospital in Sydney (St Vincent’s Hospital),” Saikia said. Shreyas Iyer Said That He Will Take Care of Himself - Suryakumar Yadav India T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav provided a positive update on Shreyas Iyer’s health during a press conference in Canberra ahead of the T20I series against Australia. Suryakumar mentioned that Iyer has been responding to messages over the last two days. “We spoke to him at least on the first day when we got to know that he had an injury. I called him first. Then I found out that he did not have a phone. So I called the physio, Kamlesh. He told me that he is stable. On the first day, I don’t know how, but he was looking good. We have been talking for two days now. He has been replying. If he is replying on the phone, it means he is stable." The batter is expected to be out of action for at least two to three months and will not be able to play in the home ODI series against the South Africa National Cricket Team.
