Should GTA 6 have a DLC set outside the U.S.?

With GTA 6 releasing in about six months, many fans have discussed whether the game will ever get a story mode DLC. Despite its popularity, GTA 5 never received any story mode DLC, as Rockstar immediately began work on Red Dead Redemption 2.When the location of a GTA 6 DLC comes into question, an argument can be made that it should not be set outside of the U.S. Here's why.Note: This article is subjective and solely reflects the writer's opinion. Parts of the article are also speculative. Readers are advised to take the information with a grain of salt.Reasons why GTA 6 should not get a DLC set outside the USGTA has always been about AmericaGTA has always been about America (Image via Rockstar Games)The first Grand Theft Auto game was released in 1999. It was about a protagonist being hired by two different gangs for various criminal work. The first half was set in Liberty City, a parody of New York City, and the second was a parody of California, which they named the State of San Andreas in the game.Hence, it is clear that Rockstar wanted to create a parody of America by showing unique personalities, bizarre communities, crimes, and gun culture. The company tried to create the same experience called GTA London, which was a mission pack for PS1, but they soon returned to the West. Every game going forward was based in the U.S.Hence, creating a GTA 6 DLC that is set outside of the US might not work because Rockstar Games has created a certain image of the IP that makes it popular. Also Read: "There was so much Americana": Rockstar's co-founder Dan Houser on why GTA was always based in the U.S.A.Rockstar already has in-game data on different American citiesRockstar already has a lot of data about different American cities (Image via Sportskeeda Gaming || Rockstar Games)Over the years, Rockstar Games has created three major maps based on different real-life American cities: New York (Liberty City), Los Angeles (Los Santos), and Miami (Vice City). In GTA 6, Vice City will be the main city where the main story pans out, along with other towns in the State of Leonida (parody of Florida). If Rockstar ever plans to release a DLC with a new map, they can either unlock a brand new area attached to Leonida, or bring back Liberty City or Los Santos from previous titles. This is particularly because they already have all the data and layout of these parody cities. Even though they will need to create new textures for terrain and buildings, they will have a set blueprint for them. This is another reason Rockstar Games might just stick to the US for their next game's DLC.Check out our other content:GTA 6 trailer 3 will allegedly arrive next week, according to unverified leaker"You’re almost buying multiple games": GTA 5 Lester voice actor on why GTA 6's rumored $100 price tag is justified"An update of classic film marketing": GTA's former co-creator Dan Houser explains Rockstar Games' marketing strategy
