Shivamogga: In a shocking incident, a government doctor has been booked along with five others in connection with a foeticide case involving a minor girl in Shivamogga district. Police have arrested one youth in connection with the case. According to the news reports, the doctor allegedly performed an illegal abortion on a minor girl at a private hospital after she became pregnant following a sexual assault. The minor’s parents reportedly sought the youth’s assistance to terminate the pregnancy. The IPS officer denied any delay in the investigation, but admitted that some accused are absconding.Meanwhile, District Health Officer Dr. Nataraj mentioned that the health department will take disciplinary action after the police investigation is completed. The accused was reportedly found treating patients without holding any recognised medical qualification or licence. Acting on a tip-off, Dr. Marimuthu and police officers inspected Rajendran’s premises. During the raid, officials seized various medical instruments, including a stethoscope, glucometer, sphygmomanometer, IV sets, dextrose bottles, tablets, and other medicines, many of which appeared to have been used.
