I think the bigger issue is that it normalizes their behavior and says it’s ok. I read a report awhile back that asked a similar question about ai created child pornography and made the leap to classify pedophilia as a mental disorder, I had never thought of it that way and just thought it was all sickos. Now I wonder if there are people out there who are physically attracted to kids but don’t act on it because they know it’s wrong? Can you imagine having to deal with that shit? Made me think maybe the metal health issue is the correct approach, maybe if we need to look into it closer. If proper diagnosis and therapy could prevent even one pedo from acting out there impulses it would be worth it.
