Shawn Michaels About To Go Under the Knife: HBK’s Body Finally Sends Him the Expensive Bill

The “Heartbreak Kid” Shawn Michaels is about to experience some real heartbreak, and this time it’s coming from his orthopedic surgeon’s office, not the squared circle. Shawn Michaels, recently dropped some news that’ll make any wrestling fan wince. During a recent appearance on “Nightcap” with Shannon Sharpe and Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson, the WWE Hall of Famer revealed he’s scheduled for double knee replacement surgery within the month.

The Price of Being Mr. WrestleMania For Shawn Michaels

“I have had my back fused. I’ve had my shoulder replaced. I got two knees I’m getting replaced in probably a month, and I wouldn’t change it for anything in the world,” Michaels said with the kind of casual tone most people use to discuss their grocery list.

The current Senior Vice President of Talent Development Creative for NXT has essentially become a walking medical textbook. Fused back? Check. Replaced shoulder? Check. Double knee replacement on the horizon? Double check. At this point, Michaels might qualify for frequent flyer miles at the local hospital.

No Regrets From the Showstopper

Despite his body reading like a casualty report from a particularly brutal war, Michaels maintains he has zero regrets about his career choices. During his prime, he was working a staggering 286 days per year on the road. Even when he scaled back to what WWE generously called a “part-time schedule,” he was still clocking 150 days annually.

“I knew the price that was going to come along with it,” Michaels explained. “When I worked on the road we did 286 days. When I got a part-time schedule it was 150 days. I enjoyed every minute of it.”

Sure, Shawn. Nothing says “enjoying every minute” quite like having your spine welded together and your joints replaced with artificial parts. But hey, who are we to argue with a man who made a career out of superkicking people into next week?

From Ring General to NXT Commander

These days, instead of delivering Sweet Chin Music to unsuspecting opponents, Michaels is busy shaping the next generation of WWE superstars as the head honcho of NXT. The brand has become something of a revolving door for talent, with Michaels recently noting that NXT is unique because they “build stars in order to lose them” to the main roster.

The WWE Performance Center, where much of this talent development takes place, might be getting a significant upgrade soon. Triple H (Shawn Michaels best friend) has recently revealed plans for a new facility, which could provide even better resources for the future stars that Michaels and his team are cultivating.

The Bottom Line on Shawn Michaels Body

As we await further updates on Shawn Michaels’ upcoming surgery, one thing is crystal clear – the man’s dedication to professional wrestling borders on the obsessive. Most people would consider multiple major surgeries a sign that it’s time to find a new hobby. Not our boy Shawn. He’s doubling down on his commitment to the business, just from a different angle for the future of the business.

The upcoming double knee replacement represents another chapter in the ongoing saga of Shawn Michaels versus his own skeleton. So far, the score appears to be pretty even, but at least now he’ll have matching artificial joints to show for all those years of stealing the show. Here’s hoping the surgery goes smoothly and that Michaels can continue doing what he does best – developing the next generation of performers.
