No curriculum built on communalism will be implemented in Kerala, Communist Party of India (Marxist) State secretary M.V. Govindan has said. He was inaugurating a convention to announce protests by the Students’ Federation of India (SFI) for the protection of education rights with the theme ‘Release Central funds meant for Kerala’ and ‘Prevent saffronisation of universities’ here on Wednesday. He alleged that the Union government was trying to implement Hindutva agenda in the education sector. Attempts were on to teach students distorted history and unscientific things. Corporatisation of education was another aim of the BJP government. The Union government was attempting to replace the Constitution with another one based on doctrines of Manusmriti and the system of four castes, he added. The BJP government was also trying to impose conditions on the State and deny it funds. It was trying to push the State government on to the backfoot by intervening in an effective education system, Mr. Govindan alleged. One lakh emails He released a poster making the protest announcement. One lakh emails will be sent to the Union Education Minister as part of the agitation. Students’ marches will be held. Protests will also be held in front of Central government offices and Raj Bhavan. SFI State president M. Sivaprasad presided over the event.
