Seth Meyers Fires Back At Trump's 'Catapult' Rant

The Late Night host wasn’t having it with the president’s “ranting and raving” about him. Hot Topic 🔥 Full coverage and conversation on Politics Seth Meyers on Monday put Donald Trump on blast after the president attacked the Late Night host on social media, calling the comedian a “truly deranged lunatic” for mocking his recent complaints about US Navy aircraft carriers. Trump — in an unhinged Truth Social post over the weekend — claimed that Meyers “endlessly” discussed electric catapults (or part of a carrier used to help aircraft achieve faster takeoff speeds) during his Thursday monologue before calling the host “100% ANTI TRUMP, WHICH IS PROBABLY ILLEGAL!!!” Meyers addressed Trump’s “ranting and raving” about him: “You can say I’m untalented, you can say I’m deranged. But I’m not the one who talks endlessly about catapults on aircraft carriers! You’re the one who talks endlessly about catapults on aircraft carriers!” The comedian tossed to a supercut showing Trump discussing aircraft catapults on several occasions, including comments from his trip to Japan last week, where he asked whether steam-powered or “stupid” electric-powered aircraft catapults were “better.” BuzzFeed TrendingHot Topic Let's chat about all things Politics See our Politics Discussions “Until you said something, I didn’t even know aircraft carriers had catapults!” Meyers quipped. Meyers proceeded to challenge the president to ask his friends if he’s the “talk about catapult” guy. “Oh, friends are, how would I describe this to you? OK, so they’re like — they’re like people who enjoy spending time with you, independent of financial and legal favors you can grant them,” Meyers joked. He later continued, “So you can say whatever you want about me, that is your First Amendment right, which I have, too, right? We all have it. Right? But how dare you say I talk endlessly about catapults!” Check out more of Meyers’ Monday monologue below: This article originally appeared on HuffPost.
