He also shared his thoughts on racism, responsibility, and raising a Black daughter.Ohanian founded Reddit, a social news and discussion platform, which is the seventh most visited website in the world. It gained popularity in 2017-2018 and crossed 300 million monthly active users. The American shared that Olympia’s birth made him more thoughtful about his career choices. Raising a Black daughter inspired him to take greater responsibility in promoting equality, controlling hate speech, and creating fair opportunities for people in the future. "You see the discourse every day, and you see how violent it is, not just on Reddit, but broadly. What would I do if my daughter asked me about these things in the future? What did you do in this situation? And what were you doing to make things a little better for me and people like me?""And I wanted to be able to give her a great answer. I don’t think it should require having a black daughter to do that. But when you have one, you really feel even more strongly,” Alexis Ohanian said Ohanian tied the knot with Serena Williams on November 16, 2017. They have two daughters so far, Olympia, who's eight years old, and Adira, who turned two in August this year.In 2020, Ohanian decided to leave Reddit without consulting his co-founders, Steve Huffman and Aaron Swartz. He said hate speech was a big reason for his decision and that he couldn’t do much to change things on the platform."I could no longer feel proud about what I was building at Reddit. Having dinner conversations with my wife, there were board meetings I came back from almost feeling gaslit,” Alexis Ohanian said “I was like, ‘Am I the asshole for wanting to ban a community for watching people die?
