Race 1 (1,200m)
(4) VILLARRICA, (7) MME HUNTRESS, (8) RED SECRET and (10) CHARIKLO are bred to be useful and could run forward races first-up if not too green.
Race 2 (1,200m)
(5) MIAMI MOUNTAIN took off once the penny had dropped. He ran an eye-catching second on debut over 1,000m. On that evidence, this extended trip will unlock improvement in him, especially with the benefit of that experience to count on.
(10) TRAJANUS was gelded recently, and has finished second in two starts over 1,000m, so he would not be winning out of turn either.
The well-bred newcomer (11) WAYNE is not to be taken lightly, and the betting should provide a guide to his chances on debut.
(8) RED SUNRISE is making his debut. Keep a close eye on him.
Race 3 (1,700m)
(4) ETHICAL returns from an 11-week absence, but has the form and experience to fight out the finish on her reappearance.
(1) NKWENKWEZI and (5) FRANGIPANI fit a similar profile, but the latter has more scope to improve, so she could pose a bigger threat.
(10) LUCKY CHANCE is open to improvement over this extended trip, so she could take home a cheque.
Race 4 (1,700m)
(10) MY LUCKY CHARM showed promise on debut when second over 1,450m. With that experience under the belt and this extended trip, the Mike and Mathew de Kock-trained charge may be hard to beat.
(5) OLYMPIAN GOLD and (6) TRIP TO PEACE have the form and experience to make life difficult for the selection.
(1) MAJALUN completes the shortlist.
Race 5 (1,400m)
(6) ECHO CHECK could hardly have been more impressive when a wide-margin winner on debut. With more improvement expected from him, it could pay to follow his progress.
The consistent (2) SHINTO SHRINE is competitive off his current mark, but there are several other solid cases that can be made, including (9) ON A JET PLANE after encouraging reappearances.
The lightly raced 3YO filly (13) CLAIRWOOD ROSE fits a similar profile.
Race 6 (1,200m)
Top sprinter (1) LUCKY LAD should enjoy reverting to this distance. He has a bit to find at the weights but boasts a good record racing fresh, so this is a good opportunity for him to return to winning ways after a luckless 4YO campaign.
The well-weighted 5YO mares (3) CHASING HAPPINESS, (6) MINOGUE and the resuming (7) ELEGANT ICE have the ability to expose any chinks in the selection’s armour.
Race 7 (1,200m)
(4) FRANCILIEN was returning from a six-month absence when finishing second in a similar contest over this trip in August. She would not need to improve much to go one better, even off a higher mark, with improved fitness on her side.
Course-and-distance specialists (1) FRANCINE and stable companion (3) JUST THE TWO OF US will likely pose the biggest threats, although last-start scorer (7) VALIEVA could remain competitive under a penalty.
Race 8 (1,200m)
(1) VERSACE ONTHETRACK and (2) MALIBU were above average during their promising 2YO campaigns, and both remain open to improvements at their 3YO reappearances.
(6) RED AMBER and (11) BLINDFIRE fit a similar profile and receive weight from the aforementioned duo.
