Senne Lammens lifts lid on big Man Utd dressing room difference from Andre Onana era

Manchester United goalkeeper Senne Lammens has opened up about how he's adapted to life alongside his new team-mates. The 23-year-old summer arrival has provided much-needed steadiness as United's new number one, with previous first-choice Andre Onana being sent out on loan to Trabzonspor . The choice to bring in Lammens to address United's goalkeeping troubles on deadline day came as a shock to many , considering his limited top-level experience. He had only established himself as Royal Antwerp's first choice last season and has yet to earn his first international cap for Belgium . Lammens was initially forced to bide his time for his United bow, but his introduction to the starting XI has aligned with Ruben Amorim 's side claiming victory in their last three Premier League fixtures and he has swiftly become a crowd favourite. The assurance that his early displays have instilled in the squad feels worlds away from the anxiety that frequently accompanied Onana's stint between the sticks, and Lammens has revealed he has already earned the trust of his United colleagues. "Honestly? I was a bit scared at first," Lammens told Belgian outlet HLN . "You always think players at big clubs are more independent. And that you're more on your own. "The opposite is true. Everyone welcomed me. Captain Bruno Fernandes , a player I look up to, immediately reassured me. But of course, you have to perform. If you really want to be embraced by the team, you have to prove yourself. And so far, that's worked." Lammens getting encouraging slaps on the back from the United defence has become a regular sight during his opening trio of matches. "That was the best part of the past few weeks," Lammens said. "You're playing with guys who have a lot of experience. Big names in football. When they show they're happy with you in goal, it gives them a lot of confidence. I've been able to give them the feeling they can count on me." Whilst Lammens is thriving in his position as United's first choice, his predecessor Onana is also relishing his spell away from Old Trafford . The 29-year-old's final outing for United before his loan departure was in the club's shock Carabao Cup elimination to Grimsby . The ex- Ajax and Inter Milan shot-stopper has subsequently turned out six times for Trabzonspor, where his distribution skills have earned plaudits. In what seemed like a subtle dig at United, Onana suggested his improved displays were down to his new environment. "As I always say, most of the time, it's my teammates who give me the options when I'm building up the game," he said, per Sporx (via Sport Witness ). "If they help me, the work looks much better." Meanwhile, Lammens will be concentrating on helping United prolong their winning streak this weekend. Amorim's squad are scheduled to take on Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on Saturday.
