Selling Sunset Fans Spot Major Editing Error During Nicole Young's Firing

Selling Sunset discovered a possible editing — and continuity — mistake during the scene when Nicole Young got fired from the Oppenheim Group. During season 9, which premiered Wednesday, October 28, Jason and Brett Oppenheim argued about hedges that were built in front of their office to prevent strangers from approaching their business. The conversation happened in the second episode before Nicole, 40, was called in to speak with Jason and Brett, both 48. The third episode showed Nicole strolling in with the hedges in full view. But by the time she was sitting at her desk, the view behind Nicole was just glass doors with no hedges in sight. Nicole was dismissed from her job, and once she was outside, she was walking by the artificial greenery again. Nicole has since shut down the assumption that she was fired. During an Instagram Q&A on Friday, October 31, Nicole was asked where she currently works, to which she replied, “I still work at The Oppenheim Group. Getting ‘fired’ was just a dramatic story line.” She continued: “I wasn’t privy to [it] until I saw the episode where the cast was told I was let go.” Chrishell Stause made similar comments after season 9 premiered. “I’m sure Jason [Oppenheim] is also pushed by production because they want to make the show light, and she keeps bringing it down to a dark place. I wasn’t that surprised, because I knew how production felt. They all checked in with me after, and promised me we weren’t going to have a negative season,” she told Variety on Friday. “She got fired from the show. They had her do interviews and at the reunion, but she was no longer at the group dinners or open houses. She’s not on the sheet anymore. Technically, she’s an independent contractor, so she can still carry her license and do real estate. As far as her moving and then not moving, you’d have to ask her. I have no idea what happens under that crazy wig.” Nicole’s future at the agency was called into question after she got into a fight with Chrishell, 44. Us Weekly confirmed in January that filming was put on pause after a scene where Nicole made controversial comments about Chrishell’s late parents. “I had a call with production two days ago during which they told me I have absolutely not been fired from the cast but they chose to pause my filming schedule until next week in order to protect me from situations on set that had become very contentious,” Nicole told Us in a statement at the time. “I’m still debating whether or not I want to continue filming in this kind of environment, especially with so many infuriating double standards.” Nicole added: “Selling Sunset has been a great opportunity and a wild ride, but it is not my life or identity. I have a big, beautiful life outside of the show … and thankfully in the real world, my life and personality can’t be edited or misconstrued to portray me negatively to fit into a produced storyline.” While Nicole’s future on Selling Sunset remains unclear, so does Chrishell’s. When recently asked about returning for another season of the hit reality series, Chrishell appeared to hint she was weighing her options. “The reunion was so brutal. In that moment, I realized I will be done here going forward. I wish everyone the best, but this isn’t the place for me. It felt a little bit like a dog pile,” she told Variety last month. “I don’t know when they will start filming. I hope they never tell me.” Selling Sunset is currently streaming on Netflix.
