Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin is the hottest name in the college football coaching carousel this fall. More News: Auburn Given College Football Playoff Warning After Firing Hugh Freeze The top jobs already on the market are Florida, LSU and Penn State. Given Kiffin's history with the SEC, the Gators and Tigers seem like the most likely programs that could poach the Rebels' coach. Rumors about Kiffin's future at Ole Miss come as the 8-1 team gets prepared to host The Citadel on Saturday. The Rebels are squarely in the hunt to make the College Football Playoff with a No. 7 ranking before the CFP selection committee releases its first ranking of the season on Tuesday night. More News: LSU Linked to Ultimate Anti-Brian Kelly Candidate Ole Miss has reportedly given Kiffin multiple chances to sign a contract extension, but the head coach has not signed it. Fox Sports analyst Joel Klatt believes speculation on Kiffin's future with the Rebels could cause a distraction for the team. Klatt reported that he has knowledge that one SEC program has tried to reach out to Kiffin for an interview, but he would not specify if it was Florida or LSU. "So, the longer that Lane Kiffin doesn't sign an extension at Ole Miss or come out and absolutely, emphatically, and definitively, like (Oregon head coach) Dan Lanning did, turn these jobs down and say, 'I'm not going anywhere,' the distraction is going to creep up at Ole Miss," Klatt said on his show on Monday. "That would be my worry for Ole Miss and this team, is the distraction of what's going to go on. Because listen, Florida is coming after Lane Kiffin, period. LSU will absolutely talk with and try to interview Lane Kiffin. There's not a doubt in my mind. In fact, I know one of them for a fact. So the longer this goes, that could be a distraction, just something to watch out for.” It'll be interesting to see how Kiffin responds to outside pressure about his contract situation with the Rebels. Following his win over Oklahoma on Oct. 25, Kiffin earned an automatic one-year contract extension. But that might not be what it takes for him to stay with the program. Following Saturday's game against the Bulldogs, Ole Miss will play Florida on Nov. 15 before finishing the regular season at Mississippi State on Nov. 28.
