Sebastian Tounekti has withdrawn from the Tunisia squad for their latest run of international fixtures - with Celtic reportedly keen for him to get a 10-day lay-off because of a suspected injury. The winger joined the Hoops from Swedish side Hammarby in a £5.2million deal on deadline day in the summer transfer window, scoring twice in 13 matches so far. Norway-born Tounetki was hoping to add to his three senior caps for Tunisia - who he qualifies to play for through his father - in their friendly clashes against Mauritania, Jordan, and Brazil, but the country's football association have now confirmed he has been pulled out of the squad. African outlet Mosaïque FM report that the wide man has been withdrawn due to medical reasons and that Tunisia will not be calling up another player in his absence. But Al-Araby Al-Jadeed claim that his release from the squad is a result of Celtic's desire to nurse a suspected thigh injury. They add that the Parkhead giants have officially asked Tunisia to allow the player to rest for 10 days and that they provide Celtic will a medical certificate detailing his reported injury. The champions return from the international break with a trip to face St Mirren on November 22 in a dress-rehearsal for next month's Premier Sports Cup final. Should Tounekti miss the game, he could be added to a growing Parkhead injury list. Cameron Carter-Vickers, Jota and Alistair Johnston remain long-term absentees, with the latter revealing on Tuesday that he has successfully undergone surgery for a hamstring problem . Striker Kelechi Iheanacho is also out but is expected to return to action in the next couple of weeks. Tounekti scored his first home goal of the Hoops in the 4-0 demolition of Falkirk in interim manager Martin O'Neill 's homecoming in Glasgow's East End and stated that it's right up there with one of the best feelings of his career so far. He said: "It was a really amazing feeling - one of the best feelings I ever had. "It was really special to get my first goal at the park. It's something I was looking forward to. "It's always nice to get that bond with the fans. "I'm a player who gets that bond more easily because of my playing style. "The support has been really amazing and I want to give something back because I think I've got more to give."
