Disgraced music mogul Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is nearly two weeks into his stay at Fort Dix federal prison in New Jersey. Combs is currently serving a 50-month sentence for prostitution-related offenses. While behind bars, the 56-year-old celebrity has stayed busy, participating in a residential drug treatment program, and reportedly getting himself into some trouble. Combs also has a new job at the prison. Shortly after Combs was transferred to Fort Dix on Oct. 30, TMZ reported that he was placed on laundry duty. His latest role is reportedly a bit more prestigious. Combs secures ‘desirable’ work assignment On Monday, CBS News reported that Combs has been enlisted as a chaplain’s assistant, considered to be one of the “more desirable assignments” at the low-security facility. “He works in the chapel library, where he describes the environment as warm, respectful, and rewarding,” Combs’ publicist Juda Engelmayer told CBS News. The chapel is one of the few places inmates can gather freely, a former prison commissioner explained to CBS, making it a coveted place for employment. The position also affords other perks such as a private environment, air conditioning and access to food that chaplains have brought in. Not all fun and games behind bars Unfortunately, while it sounds like Combs’ job at Fort Dix is relatively cushy, that doesn’t mean his early time there has been without bumpiness. Following his sentencing, Combs’ defense lawyers applied for him to be moved from Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York, where he had been locked up since September 2024 to Fort Dix in order to “address drug abuse issues” and “maximize family visitation and rehabilitative efforts.” Fort Dix is one of 53 facilites nationwide with a residential drug treatment program, in which Combs is now a participating member. Besides that work, he has also reportedly found himself in trouble twice. Last week, TMZ reported that Combs was caught consuming a homemade beverage consisting of “Fanta, sugar and apples,” which fermented over two weeks into an alcoholic substance. Combs publicly denied the allegation.
