Week 4 kicks off tonight, and it will be a battle in the NFC West.
The Seattle Seahawks will travel to the Valley of the Sun on Thursday Night to take on their division rivals, the Arizona Cardinals.
Both teams will look to add a third win to their column, as both sit with a record of 2-1. The Seahawks are road favorites in this matchup according to ESPN Bet with a -1.5 spread.
The over/under is set at 43.5, and the moneyline favors the Seahawks as well, at -130.
In the overall series between these two NFC West teams, the Seahawks led with a 29-22-1 record. Last season, the Cardinals were swept by the Seahawks, and that has been the case for the past three seasons.
Seattle has beaten the Cardinals seven consecutive times, dating back to the 2021 season finale. The Cardinals will look to flip the switch this time around on prime time with the home crowd on their side.
Nonetheless, these division battles are always worth watching. Here’s how the staff at Newsweek Sports expects things to shake out.
Ricardo Sandoval: We are in for a doozy tonight, folks. Both teams will look to establish dominance in a division where it appears to be up for grabs. The Seahawks have had three different starting quarterbacks in the last five seasons, while the Cardinals have relied on one for the past seven seasons.
The Seahawks’ defense has established itself as one of the best in the league, and I expect that to continue being the case in primetime.
Prediction: Seahawks 24, Cardinals 20
Noah Camras: Thursday Night Football features a huge divisional battle between two teams who have looked strong to start the year. The Seahawks are coming off back-to-back dominant wins, while the Cardinals suffered a last-second loss to the San Francisco 49ers. On Thursday night, the quarterbacks will determine the winner, and it will be Kyler Murray who outduels Sam Darnold to move his Cardinals to 3-1 on the season.
Prediction: Cardinals 24, Seahawks 23
Valentina Martinez: The Seahawks offense, led by Sam Darnold, should continue to flourish in Week 4. Arizona, on the other hand, has had too many dropped passes to get the win.
Prediction: Seahawks 24, Cardinals 17
Aaron Coloma: The Seahawks have dominated the Cardinals in recent years, winning their last seven matchups against their divisional foes. While the Cardinals have had a solid start to the season, losing running back James Conner is a big hit to their offense and I don’t think they’ll be able to keep up with a Seattle offense which hung 44 points on the Saints last week.
