News release Local entrepreneur Leonard Jackson has announced his candidacy for governor of California in the 2026 election, running on a platform of “People Over Parties,” according to a news release from his campaign. Jackson “is pledging to bring fresh leadership, bold ideas, and a commitment to putting Californians first,” the release said. Born and raised in Hollywood, Jackson has built a diverse career that spans business, community service, and the arts, the release said. He has served as CEO of Norfleet Transportation, and worked as an actor and filmmaker on more than 200 TV shows and 50 TV shows, the release said. “My journey has always been about lifting others, not just achieving personal success,” Jackson said in the release. “Whether it’s mentoring young entrepreneurs, supporting working families, or standing with communities in times of need, my leadership has been rooted in service. As governor, I will fight to restore affordability, combat homelessness and mental health issues, invest in education, protect our environment, and build a California that works for everyone.” The release said Jackson’s campaign will focus on tackling the state’s most urgent challenges, including housing affordability, homelessness, public safety and justice, health care and mental health, jobs and education, and government reform. “Our state is at a crossroads,” Jackson added in the release. “California deserves leadership that listens, that brings people together, and that delivers solutions instead of excuses. I’m ready to be that leader and put people over politics.” Jackson said in a prepared statement that he has lived in the Santa Clarita Valley for more than 20 years. “I’ve been proud to call Stevenson Ranch home since 2003. Over the past two decades, my wife and I have raised our four children here. They all attended our local schools — Pico Canyon Elementary, Rancho Pico Junior High, and West Ranch High School. Two of them have since gone on to graduate from Loyola Marymount University, with one honored as valedictorian.” Jackson’s statement said he has been a local business owner for 25 years. “What began as a small startup has grown into a successful mid-sized business employing over 150 people, proudly located right here in our community.” He added that he has coached youth sports and served as a local Cub Scout leader. “Stevenson Ranch and Valencia have been the heart of my family’s story — places where we’ve built lifelong friendships, supported our schools and youth programs, and worked to strengthen our community,” his statement said. “It’s this deep connection that inspires my commitment to serve and make California a better place for all families.”
