The Santa Clarita Valley Food Pantry and SCV BandsCast are teaming up to help families affected by the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits shutdown. SCV Food Pantry and SCV BandsCast are accepting non-perishable food donations at two different locations. People who would like to donate are asked to bring items like canned meats (tuna, chicken), nut butters, dried or canned beans, boxed pasta, rice, and shelf-stable milk and cereal. “All this news was going on, I felt like, ‘OK, music is something that can help this cause,’ to bring people to, bring it awareness, to raise awareness, to bring people to bring food and contribute to this cause,” said Amir Soleimani, founder of SCV BandsCast, who came up with the idea. The two locations are: Route 66 Classic Grill at 18730 Soledad Canyon Road in Canyon Country; and, Wide Eye Lounge at 24480 Main St., Suite 110 in Newhall. The businesses only accept donations during their normal business hours, according to Soleimani.
