The Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual all-day golf tournament fundraiser at Valencia Country Club on Monday. The idea behind the event is to have members hit the greens to network, enjoy the perfect weather for a round of golf and support the chamber’s advocacy, said Ivan Volschenk, president and CEO of the SCV Chamber of Commerce. The event was supported by a group of members that included longtime family businesses to more recent membership drawn to the city. “We’ve been members of the SCV Chamber of Commerce for a long time. I don’t even know how many years,” said Travis Richardson of G.W. Richardson, a locally owned and operated heating and air conditioning business for more than 40 years. “We just wanted to get involved and give back to the community and support the Santa Clarita Valley.” Adam LeVrier, director of marketing for Encore Gas and Supply, said the Long Beach-based business just opened up a facility on Rye Canyon Road and immediately became a member of the SCV Chamber. “It was a logical geographic expansion for us into (the SCV),” LeVrier said. “We felt there was a need up here for our services — and so far, that’s definitely bearing out.” He said the SCV Chamber’s support has been really helpful, and he’s looking forward to hosting an upcoming mixer at their Valencia showroom. In addition to a major footprint in the aerospace industry, he said, Encore offers industrial gases, welding and industrial equipment that serve a variety of industries. “Everything from construction to energy, oil and gas, to bio science to analytical labs to food and beverage,” LeVrier added.
