LOADINGERROR LOADING CNN’s conservative pundit Scott Jennings was mocked by left-leaning activist David Hogg on air Monday for debating with the “News Night” panel about the affordability of groceries while wearing a luxury Rolex watch. “It’s crazy guys like Scott Jennings do not understand how people like Zohran resonate and then go on CNN and lecture people about affordability while wearing a literal Rolex,” Hogg said on X following his appearance. Advertisement Jennings’s affordability remarks came during a debate with CNN contributor Leah Wright Rigueur, who argued there is a “disconnect between what the American people are feeling on the ground and the way markets are performing.” “People are talking about groceries, they’re talking about gas. Well, guess what? Nine months later, people are still talking about groceries. They’re still talking about gas,” Rigueur said, before Jennings cut her off. Advertisement The conservative pundit argued “they’re not talking about gas,” and that the prices for eggs are low. “Have you been to a grocery store around here?” Rigueur replied. The panel’s conversation later shifted to the possibility that New York City mayoral candidate and self-identified democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani might emerge victorious. Advertisement “Yeah, look, he’s probably going to win. I mean, it’s a Democrat town, and they’re going to elect a socialist to run the financial capital of the world,” Jennings said. He tried to make a dig at Hogg about his group Leaders We Deserve donating $300,000 to a super PAC supporting Mamdani, calling the donation “probably the only 300 non-Islamo Marxist grand that he got.” Hogg snapped back, telling Jennings part of the reason why Mamdani is “so powerful is because people are tired of being lectured by men with Rolexes on CNN about affordability in this country.” Advertisement “That’s the real reason he is resonating right now, because he has a clear message that actually says, ‘This is what I plan to do in the party,’” Hogg said. Jennings questioned Hogg if he wanted “a socialist future” for the Democratic party, with Hogg responding that he wanted “a future where everybody has health care and people can afford a good life.” ReportingWhat'sReal Your SupportFuelsOur Mission Your SupportFuelsOur Mission Join HuffPost Today This Election Day we’re cutting through the noise. Hogg doubled down on his Rolex quip on X, writing, “Going on CNN to lecture people about affordability while wearing a Rolex is a choice.”
