ScotRail confirm more and bigger trains for Ayr Gold Cup Festival

ScotRail are adding extra services between Ayr and Glasgow Central for the Virgin Bet Ayr Gold Cup Festival this weekend. More carriages will be added to trains on the route with more seats available for racegoers travelling to Ayrshire . Around 10,000 people are expected travel to and from Ayr by train over the course of the race meeting which begins on Thursday, September 18. The weekend culminates with Scotland’s most famous flat race on Saturday afternoon, September 20, at Ayr Racecourse . To support travel to and from the event, ScotRail has confirmed it will add extra services between Ayr and Glasgow before and after the racing on Saturday, with trains also operating with additional carriages to provide more seats on board. Ayr station is approximately one hour by train from Glasgow Central and then it’s around a 10-minute walk to the racecourse. ScotRail are also encouraging customers to plan ahead and buy their return tickets to Ayr on the ScotRail app, from station self-service ticket machines or from station ticket offices.
