Schools closed: Schools in various states across the country will remain closed for several days due to different reasons. Navratri celebrations are in full swing across the country, and many states have declared school holidays until Dussehra. Schools Closed: With the arrival of the month of Shravan in July, the festive season began across the country. These days, the nation is steeped in the vibrant colors of Navratri. From Uttar Pradesh and Bihar to West Bengal, the Durga Puja pandals are beautifully decorated. Children are enjoying the festivities, including Ramlila performances, rides at the fair, and various delicacies. Preparations for Dussehra, including the effigy burning of Ravana, have also begun. Amidst these festivities, schools in various states have been closed. The school holidays have doubled the fun for the children. Festivals truly come alive with the presence of children. Along with religious rituals, they get the opportunity to enjoy various delicacies and play with their friends. In many districts of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Assam, and Rajasthan, school holidays for Navratri and Dussehra have already started. Meanwhile, schools in Leh have been closed due to the prevailing tension following the Sonam Wangchuk incident. Schools Closed This Week: Which states will have school closures next week? West Bengal: West Bengal is famous for its Durga Puja celebrations. The entire state is beautifully decorated to welcome the goddess Durga. Durga Puja festivities began in West Bengal on September 24. According to various media reports, schools will remain closed until October 6, 2025. However, there may be differences in the holiday schedule between government and private schools. Bihar: In Bihar, which borders West Bengal, Navratri, or Durga Puja, is celebrated with great fervor. Here too, pandals (temporary structures) are decorated according to various themes to worship the different forms of Goddess Durga. In most districts of Bihar, schools will remain closed from September 27 to October 2, 2025. In some other districts, schools will remain closed until October 5. Students can confirm the holiday dates with their respective schools. Odisha: Odisha is also immersed in the festive spirit of Durga Puja. Schools in Odisha will remain closed from September 29 to October 2, 2025. This period covers Maha Saptami to Vijaya Dashami. Assam: In Assam, holidays have been declared for September 29 and 30, 2025, as well as for Dussehra and Gandhi Jayanti (October 2). Assam schools were also closed for mourning following the sudden death of popular Assamese singer Zubin Garga a few days ago. Jharkhand: In Dhanbad district of Jharkhand, which borders Bihar, all government schools will remain closed from September 27 to October 2. Some schools have also declared holidays until October 5. Rajasthan: A two-day teachers’ conference will be held in Rajasthan on September 26 and 27, 2025. All teachers will participate in this conference. Therefore, schools will remain closed on both days. September 28 is a regular weekly holiday (Sunday). Following this, September 30 has been declared a holiday for Maha Ashtami. Then, October 2 will be a holiday for Gandhi Jayanti and Dussehra. Leh: The situation in the Union Territory of Leh remains tense. Following the arrest of Sonam Wangchuk, the District Magistrate of Leh, Romil Singh Donak, has ordered the closure of all government and private schools, colleges, and other educational institutions for two days, starting Friday. All Anganwadi centers will also remain closed during this period. Uttar Pradesh: Schools in several areas of Bareilly district in Uttar Pradesh have been ordered closed amid the “I Love Muhammad” controversy.
