Former Chief Minister and AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami, on Saturday (October 11, 2025), said that during the AIADMK regime, schemes worth ₹400 crore were implemented in the Tiruchengode Assembly Constituency.
On Saturday, more than 1,000 cadre from Kongunadu Makkal Desiya Katchi (KMDK) joined AIADMK in the presence of Mr. Palaniswami at Tiruchengode.
Speaking among the cadre, Mr. Palaniswami said that during the AIADMK regime, schemes such as the 100-lake scheme for the welfare of farmers and the Athikadavu-Avinashi scheme were implemented. Water bodies were desilted through Kudimaramathu scheme. Around 8,000 lakes are yet to be desilted, and this will be done after the party returned to power, he said.
He added that during the AIADMK regime, three-phase power was provided to farmers for 24 hours. During COVID-19, crop loans worth ₹12,500 crore were waived across the State and loans worth ₹560 crore were waived in Salem. Asia’s biggest veterinary park and research institute was constructed in Salem, but now the park is not in use, Mr. Palaniswami alleged.
Listing the schemes implemented in Tiruchengode Assembly Constituency, Mr. Palaniswami said ₹400 crore was spent for scheme works, including the expansion of roads and drinking water schemes. Across Tamil Nadu, 11 new medical college hospitals, 68 arts and science colleges and 28 polytechnic colleges were established. He said in AIADMK regime, temple fund will be spent for the development of temples and colleges will be provided with higher education department funds. Proper protection and party postings will be given to the people who are currently joining the party, Mr. Palaniswami said.
