The State-owned Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Nagpur-based Jawaharlal Nehru Aluminium Research Development and Design Centre (JNARDDC). As part of its business expansion initiatives, the SCCL entered into MoU with the JNARDDC, an autonomous research organisation under the Ministry of Mines, Government of India, a SCCL press release said. The agreement aims to facilitate scientific analysis and research on the presence and potential of critical minerals and rare earth elements in the Singareni region and to promote joint cooperation at the national and international levels. The MoU was signed in the presence of SCCL CMD N. Balram at Singareni Bhavan in Hyderabad on Monday. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Balram said preliminary studies have already indicated the presence of rare earth elements in the overburden of opencast mines, in fly ash from the Singareni Thermal Power Plant (STPP) and in nearby hilly areas of the Singareni region. This collaboration will enable more in-depth scientific studies on these findings, he noted.
