Scared pupils ‘hid under tables’ as UK school placed in 'lockdown' after 'malicious' phone call

Children reportedly "hid under tables" as a UK school was placed in "lockdown" on the first day back after the half-term holiday. The police attended Stourport High School in Minster Road, Stourport-on-Severn, after receiving a "malicious" phone call at around 2:30pm on Monday afternoon (November 3). After some speculation on social media surrounding the incident, West Mercia Police confirmed that they attended the school due to an anonymous malicious phone call. A spokesman for West Mercia Police said: “We received a call around 2:30pm this afternoon (November 1) from Stourport High School. "It was regarding an anonymous call they had received that caused them concern. The phone call has been identified as malicious communication with no threat or risk to pupils and staff at the school. “Officers will be at the school this afternoon to offer reassurance to the pupils and staff.” There were some comments shared on Facebook about the incident at the West Midlands school. On Monday evening, one member of the public commented on a post by the school saying: "I'd like to say a massive thank you to all the staff at The Stourport High School & VIth Form College for keeping the children safe today in what I can only imagine to be a horrific situation you as a school were put in today." Another post on Facebook read: “Stourport High school on lockdown. All the kids were locked in the classrooms and under desks," while another read: "Stourport high school locked down. Every class has been locked in and told to stay under their desks. Police everywhere. Someone has entered the school who should be in there. The police are going round each class 1 by 1 to get the kids out safely."
