New Delhi: The Supreme Court will hear on Tuesday various petitions challenging the Centre's "complete ban" on online money gaming in India.In September, the apex court had transferred to itself all the petitions pending at three high courts of Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh and Delhi against The Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025 that imposed a blanket ban on online money gaming.The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology had sought transfer of the pending cases from the three high courts, arguing that the HCs might arrive at inconsistent findings on the same central legislation, creating legal uncertainty. A consolidated hearing before the top court would ensure uniformity of judicial pronouncements and avoid conflicting decisions, it stated.A Supreme Court bench comprising Justices JB Pardiwala and KV Viswanathan had then restrained HCs from entertain any petitions challenging the validity of the online gaming Act.Head Digital Works, the parent company of online gaming platform A23, had moved the Karnataka HC against the Act.
