Riyadh – SANA A Saudi-Syrian roundtable meeting was held Monday in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, with the participation of a high-level Syrian economic delegation that included Minister of Economy and Industry, Nidal Al-Shaar, Minister of Finance Mohamed Yisr Barnieh, Minister of Energy Mohammad Al-Bashir, Minister of Communications and Information Technology Abdul-Salam Haykal and Director of the Syrian Investment Authority Talal Al-Hilali and representatives from both countries’ public and private sectors. Key Discussions: In-depth talks focused on the Syrian government’s role in improving the investment environment and supporting digital transformation in the post-liberation phase. Exploration of ways to enhance economic cooperation between Syria and Saudi Arabia in agriculture, industry, energy and telecommunications. Opportunities for joint projects serving mutual economic interests were discussed, with emphasis on the importance of Syrian-Saudi economic and investment partnership in supporting development in both nations. Minister Al-Shaar stressed the importance of strengthening public-private cooperation, noting that the “new Syria” is working to provide legislative and investment facilities to attract investors, especially from Saudi Arabia, contributing to sustainable development and shared growth. For his part, Saudi Minister of Investment, Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al-Falih, expressed the Kingdom’s commitment to being an active partner in Syria’s economic and developmental future. He highlighted the signing of a bilateral investment promotion and protection agreement as a historic step, offering a comprehensive legal framework that ensures fair treatment and protection for investors, and fosters a stable and attractive investment environment.
