Veteran actor Satish Shah, who passed away at the age of 74 in Mumbai, leaves behind a legacy of timeless laughter. Filmmaker Ashoke Pandit confirmed the news of his death on Instagram on October 25. In his video, Ashoke Pandit revealed that Satish Shah passed away due to kidney failure. His health suddenly deteriorated at home and he was rushed to Hinduja Hospital. He passed away at the hospital. From his unforgettable characters in films to his witty turn as Indravadan Sarabhai in Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, Shah defined sharp, situational humour for a generation. Friends, family and fans gathered for his last rites on Sunday morning. Actors who played his on-screen sons in the cult show Sarabhai vs Sarabhai were the first ones to arrive to pay their respects. Sahil Sarabhai, portrayed by Sumeet Raghavan and Rajesh Kumar, who played his younger son Rosesh Sarabhai, arrived at the late actor’s Mumbai residence early on Sunday. He had been unwell for quite some time. Life can be very cruel. All the fans of Sarabhai are sending their condolences. As the eldest son of this family, I accept all your condolences on behalf of us. And to Dad, I just want to say, so long, Dada. Safe travels, and see you on the other side,” he said. Rajesh Kumar called it his ‘worst hour’, and wrote that it feels like he has lost his father. “This is the worst hour for me… I still cannot process that Satish ji is no more… all I can say is that it feels I have lost my father… A man full of life n humour. Challenging everything.. Made his name left his mark as an actor… this is a big big loss to the industry and us (Sarabhai’s family). Let’s pray for his departed soul and keep him in your prayers..,” he wrote on Instagram. Many fans also gathered outside the house, hoping for a final glimpse of the legendary actor, sharing memories of the laughter and joy he brought to audiences across generations.
