Veteran actor Satish Shah, most famously known for his roles in ‘Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai’, ‘Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi’ and ‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro’, passed away on Saturday due to kidney failure. He was 74. The entertainment industry and his loved ones have been mourning his death, and tributes have been pouring in on social media. Filmmaker Ashoke Pandit confirmed the news of his death, revealing that the veteran actor’s health suddenly deteriorated at home after which he was rushed to Hinduja Hospital in Mumbai. He passed away at the hospital. Pandit called it a huge loss to the film and television industry. As per a report in India Today, Satish Shah had been battling kidney-related complications and had recently undergone a transplant. His manager told the news portal that the body remains at the hospital, and the funeral will take place on Sunday. Soon after the news broke, an outpouring of grief and tributes filled social media as actors and filmmakers remembered Shah’s warmth, humour, and immense contribution to Indian entertainment. Over a career of more than forty years, Satish Shah became a household name in Indian cinema and television through his memorable roles. He achieved cult status with his iconic performance in the 1983 film Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro. Satish Shah also starred in films such as Shakti, Hum Saath Saath Hain, Main Hoon Na, Kal Ho Naa Ho, Fanaa, Om Shanti Om and others. On television, Shah’s role as Indravadan Sarabhai in Sarabhai vs Sarabhai is remembered as one of Indian TV’s most iconic comic performances.
