His funeral was held on Sunday at Mumbai’s Pawan Hans Crematorium, where friends, family, and colleagues gathered quietly, many still struggling to believe that the man who made laughter so effortless was gone. Today, October 27,2025, his loved ones will come together again for a prayer meet not just to mourn him, but to remember the warmth, wit, and kindness he carried both on and off screen. We gather to celebrate the life and creative spirit of a man whose life has touched hearts, inspired many minds and brought beauty to the film world.” As mentioned in the announcement, the Shraddhanjali Kriya (prayer meet) will be held on Monday, October 27, at Jalaram Hall in Juhu, Mumbai, from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm. His health suddenly deteriorated at home and he was rushed to Hinduja Hospital. He passed away at the hospital. Pandit called it a huge loss to the film and television industry. Sharing the news of Satish Shah’s demise, Ashoke Pandit wrote, “Sad and shocked to inform you that our dear friend and a great actor Satish Shah has expired few hours ago due to kidney failure . He was rushed to Hinduja hospital where he breathed his last . A great loss to our industry . Om Shanti .” Over a remarkable career spanning more than four decades, Satish Shah earned a special place in the hearts of audiences, becoming a familiar face in both Indian cinema and television. A St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai alumnus, he further honed his craft at the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune, before making his screen debut with Arvind Desai Ki Ajeeb Dastaan in 1978. Over the years, he appeared in more than 250 films, showcasing his versatility across genres. Shah achieved cult status with his unforgettable portrayal of Municipal Commissioner D’Mello in the 1983 classic Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro, directed by Kundan Shah. He went on to deliver memorable performances in films such as Shakti, Hum Saath Saath Hain, Main Hoon Na, Kal Ho Naa Ho, Fanaa, and Om Shanti Om. On the small screen, his role as Indravadan Sarabhai in Sarabhai vs Sarabhai remains one of Indian television’s most celebrated comic performances, endearing him to a new generation of viewers.
