Sas Goldberg & Ana Nogueira Sell Rom-Com Spec To New Line; Jason Orley To Direct

EXCLUSIVE: New Line has acquired a rom-com spec from writers Sas Goldberg and Ana Nogueira, with Jason Orley (I Want You Back) attached to direct, Deadline has learned.
Plot details for the film, currently dubbed Untitled Baby Love Project, are under wraps. Peter Safran, John Rickard, and Alex Saks will serve as its producers.
Orley previously collaborated with Safran on I Want You Back, a rom-com starring Charlie Day and Jenny Slate that premiered on Prime Video in 2022. He made his feature debut with Big Time Adolescence, which premiered in dramatic competition at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival, releasing through Neon before making its way to Hulu. Orley also directed six episodes of Pete Davidson’s Peacock series Bupkis, including the pilot, serving as writer and producer alongside Lorne Michaels and his Broadway Video. Orley has developed projects across Disney, Lionsgate, Universal, Paramount, Hulu, Starz, TNT, and CBS, collaborating with producers including Seth Rogen & Evan Goldberg, Dahvi Waller, Greg Daniels, Jay Roach, Shawn Levy, Joe Port & Joe Wiseman, and John Davis. He is repped by UTA, Rise Management, and Hansen, Jacobson, Teller.
Goldberg holds a first-look development deal at 20th Television and has written for the award-winning series Only Murders in the Building (Hulu) and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (Prime Video), as well as Apple’s The Shrink Next Door, starring Will Ferrell and Paul Rudd. As an actor, she’s recently appeared in the series And Just Like That… (HBO Max) and Life & Beth (Hulu), as well as the SXSW-premiering indie A Nice Indian Boy. She is repped by Rise Management, WME, and Ziffren Brittenham.
Nogueira wrote the screenplay for the upcoming Supergirl for DC Studios, which has since tapped her to pen their Wonder Woman reboot, as well as a live-action Teen Titans movie. She wrote and starred in the SXSW short We Win and is the playwright behind Which Way to the Stage (MCC) and Empathitrax, now in development as a feature with Berlanti Productions. As an actor, she recurred on Starz’s Hightown and has appeared in The Vampire Diaries, The Michael J. Fox Show, and The Blacklist. She is repped by CAA, Howard Green Entertainment, and GGSSC.
