After drawing thousands to the Baba Yara Sports Stadium for his historic Rapperholic Homecoming, yesterday, September 28, Sarkodie is now teasing something even bigger — a collaborative “Trumpet”-style project with Kumasi-based artistes.
The award-winning rapper revealed during his interview on Opemsuo Radio’s Oseikrom Kwanso with Mac De President that the electrifying energy from Kumasi has inspired him to consider putting together a joint record, much like his earlier “Trumpet” cypher that featured multiple rappers.
This time, however, he wants to spotlight the talent coming from the Garden City.
“Trumpet with Kumasi boys, it is possible.”
According to him, the success of Rapperholic in Kumasi was not just about the concert, but about the collective energy that sold the show and pushed it beyond expectations.
“The success of Rapperholic is only about 5% due to Sarkodie himself. The media in Kumasi, the bloggers, content creators, actors, and the skits people made just to promote this show… what happened to all that energy they put in? The point is, no matter who you are, you can have a bad show if the promotion isn’t done right. I was here for a week, and I can’t say I used that week to sell anything.”
He emphasized that what happened over the weekend proved Kumasi deserves more attention — not just in entertainment but in infrastructure and investment.
