By DayakDaily Team KUCHING, Nov 6: Sarawak launches two major tourism initiatives at the World Travel Market (WTM) London 2025, spotlighting its UNESCO-recognised natural and cultural treasures while reaffirming its place as the heart of Borneo through the campaign “Sarawak Welcomes You.” Representing Malaysia on the world stage ahead of Visit Malaysia Year 2026, Sarawak drew international attention with the launch of the ‘Gateway to a Sarawak – Guinness World Record’ campaign and the Borneo UNESCO Sites Packages, developed in collaboration with the Sabah Tourism Board. The packages highlight three of Borneo’s most iconic UNESCO-recognised sites: Gunung Mulu National Park, Niah National Park and the Sarawak Delta Geopark, with each reflecting the State’s deep connection between nature, heritage and community. According to the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts (MTCP), Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, set the tone during his keynote address, calling for a renewed purpose in travel. “Tourism is no longer just about where we go, it is about what we learn, whom we meet, and how we connect with the world around us,” he said, addressing the audience of international tourism leaders, global media, and trade partners at WTM’s official launch ceremony. Sarawak’s participation this year reflects the State’s Post COVID-19 Development Strategy 2030, which outlines tourism growth through its CANFF pillars: Culture, Adventure, Nature, Food and Festival. The “Sarawak Welcomes You” theme underscores this direction, presenting the State not just as a destination but as a living story of Borneo’s spirit, one built on connection, creativity and cultural pride. A new promotional video, premiered at the event, brought this message to life and was further amplified across more than 645 digital screens across London, introducing Sarawak’s warmth and diversity to the city’s streets. Throughout the event, the Sarawak delegation brought the essence of Borneo to life through vibrant cultural performances, traditional weaving and beading demonstrations at WTM’s Trend Fest, and a series of trade and media engagements. —DayakDaily
