Sarah Ferguson 'on edge' as negotiations rumble on about her future

Sarah Ferguson is said to be ‘on edge’ and ‘embarrassed’ as negotiations continue about her and Prince Andrew’s living arrangement and future. Currently, Fergie and her ex, who recently handed back his titles following a latest wave of scandal, live at Royal Lodge, but King Charles has reportedly been trying to get them to move out for years. It had been claimed that the former couple had demanded a house each, with Andrew to move into Frogmore Cottage, where Prince Harry and Meghan Markle formally lived, and Sarah to set up home in Adelaide Cottage, where Prince William and Kate live, however, sources have slammed this saying discussion of them living apart has been ‘on the table for months’. With the living situation up in the air, sources telling the DailyMail that Sarah is ‘on edge’, with one saying: ‘The honest truth is that she has nowhere to go and no one to go with [if Andrew loses Royal Lodge]. Her future is hanging in the balance.’ Another source added: ‘The King is a kind man but his patience has been pushed to the limit. However, the last thing he also wants is another “Spare” [the memoir penned by Prince Harry in 2023].’ Sarah and Andrew divorced many years ago and some royal sources are surprised how she’s been kept in the fold and continued to live at Royal Lodge for so long, with some suggesting that it’s best for the Firm to keep her ‘in the fold’ and avoid any potential tell-all book. The mother-of-two is also alleged to be ‘embarrassed’ by recent headlines and the publication of a ‘cringeworthy’ email she wrote to Jeffrey Epstein, apologising for disassociating herself from him publicly following his child sex conviction in 2008. ‘She is contrite and embarrassed, but also fears the scandal has fatally damaged her own business interests, including a number of new fictional books that are due to come out. People don’t want to be associated with her anymore,’ a source said. Andrew bought a 75-year lease on Royal Lodge in 2004 for £1million and paid £7.5million upfront for repairs, meaning he largely lives there rent-free, paying only a nominal ‘peppercorn’ amount each year. If Andrew and Sarah do get to move into Frogmore Cottage and Adelaide Cottage, it’s thought that they would have to pay rent as both homes are managed by the British Crown Estate. Charles has previously offered to fund his brother again if he moved out of Royal Lodge, but it is not known whether that offer is still on the table given recent events.
