Top signing Saoirse Ronan confirmed to play Linda McCartney opposite Paul Mescal in Beatles biopics Ronan had been rumoured to feature but official confirmation has now emerged. 12.15pm, 1 Nov 2025 Share options SAOIRSE RONAN HAS been confirmed as being set to play Linda McCartney opposite Paul Mescal’s Paul McCartney in an upcoming biopic on The Beatles. While the 31 year old had been rumoured to feature in its upcoming film series, film studio Sony has now confirmed this will happen. Sony is releasing ‘The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event’, where each movie will focus on a different member of The Beatles. There’s more Irish interest as, aside from Mescal portraying Paul McCartney, Barry Keoghan will also star as Ringo Starr. Joseph Quinn will portray George Harrison and Harris Dickinson will play John Lennon. US trade publication Deadline reported previously that Ronan, a four-time Oscar nominee, is “expected to feature prominently in the installment centered on McCartney, though it’ s unknown to what extent she might appear in the other three”. According to another trade title, Variety, the roles of three other spouses have all been officially confirmed this week. Anna Sawai, Aimee Lou Wood and Mia McKenna-Bruce will portray Yoko Ono, Pattie Boyd and Maureen Starkey respectively. Director Mendes said in a statement to Variety that each of the four women are “fascinating and unique figures in their own right” and that he was delighted “we’ve managed to persuade four of the most talented women working in film today to join this amazing adventure.” With reporting by Jane Moore Readers like you are keeping these stories free for everyone...
