Lollu Sabha Manohar, who is known for his unique body language and rhyming comedy, is often known for collaborating with actor Santhanam in several of his films including DD Returns, A1 and Biskooth. However, since 2023, Lollu Sabha Manohar wasn’t seen in any noteworthy Tamil films, with the exception of the long-delayed project Madha Gaja Raja. Lollu Sabha Manohar Talks About His Absence From Tamil Films Talking to a popular media channel, Lollu Sabha Manohar spoke about his absence from films. He said “I was a bit unwell, so I took a sabbatical from work. But if you are asking me why I am not seen so often in films, it is because the characters we play aren’t developed so much. No director asks seasoned comedy actors to star in films.” He then went on to accuse the film industry of sidelining artists like him “They feel certain actors aren’t in the market, so they don’t choose us. They don’t want to make us big.” On being asked if he asks for favours from actors and directors for more work he said “I don’t ask anyone for work, that isn’t the right thing. We have to wait for opportunities.” In the past, Santhanam spoke about working with Manohar in his films. He said “I met him recently, and he seems to be outdated with technology. He doesn’t understand the concept of smart phone, this ends in hilarious situations.” Manohar first garnered attention through his performances in the show Lollu Sabha. The series went on to become a stepping stone for aspiring actors who eventually moved on to appear in Tamil cinema including many of the show’s lead cast such as Santhanam, Swaminathan, Jeeva, and Balaji. Meanwhile, on the work front, Santhanam was last seen in Devil’s Double Next Level (previously known as DD Next Level). Written and directed by S Prem Anand. Produced by The Show People and Niharika Entertainment, the film also features Selvaraghavan, Gautham Vasudev Menon and Geethika Tiwary in the lead roles It is the fourth instalment in the Dhilluku Dhuddu film series.
