SLT, who run and maintain eight facilities on behalf of Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council, landed the 'Outstanding Leadership Team' and 'Digital Transformation' Awards at a glittering industry celebration event at the ICC in Birmingham. In the former, the SLT senior leadership team won for its clear vision and ability to navigate significant challenges, while consistently putting the community at the heart of its operations. The Digital Transformation Award typically recognizes organisations that have fundamentally changed their operations by leveraging smart digital technologies. SLT CEO Mark Braithwaite says: “We were thrilled to have been nominated for three awards and then, on the night, to be awarded two (Digital Transformation & Outstanding Team Leadership) was phenomenal. The team have all made massive contributions and deserve the recognition for both awards. We have also been really well supported by Sandwell Council and the partnership is a great example of how a leisure operator and their local authority can drive real change when aligned.” The UK Active Awards are highly coveted and showcase the best of the industry, with businesses of all sizes and types coming together to celebrate the organisations, individuals and teams driving innovation, excellence and impact across the health, well-being, and fitness sector. This year each entrant underwent an independent assessment by Proinsight, which this year included an additional layer of external judging. The process was designed to select the best in each category across hundreds of entrants, with the judges, and the judging process, providing feedback to all applications to help with future improvements.
