San Diego Ranks Among Best Foodie Cities In Country: Report

"San Diego residents and visitors alike can enjoy a rich foodie culture without breaking the bank," WalletHub analyst Chip Lupo told Patch. SAN DIEGO, CA — America's Finest City is one of the best places to be if you consider yourself a foodie, according to a recent report by WalletHub. To compile the 2025 Best Foodie Cities in America list, researchers at the personal finance website compared more than 180 of the largest U.S. cities across 28 key metrics of foodie appeal. The data set ranged from affordability and accessibility of high-quality restaurants to food festivals, craft breweries and wineries per capita. San Diego ranked as the 10th best foodie city in the country, according to WalletHub. The city ranked first for affordability and accessibility of highly-rated restaurants, according to the report. San Diego also ranked 14th for restaurants per capita, as well as 22nd for average beer and wine price. WalletHub analyst Chip Lupo told Patch the city's ranking "reflects its wide variety of culinary experiences." "From affordable, highly-rated restaurants to food festivals, specialty stores, and opportunities for home cooking, the city caters to both adventurous diners and those who enjoy experimenting in their own kitchens," Lupo said. "San Diego residents and visitors alike can enjoy a rich foodie culture without breaking the bank." Miami ranked as the best foodie city in America, followed by Portland and San Francisco, respectively, according to the report. In California, only San Francisco at No. 3 and Sacramento at No. 9 outranked San Diego.
