Samsung has introduced Vision AI Companion for its compatible televisions and monitors, marking a new step for artificial intelligence-supported home entertainment experiences.
The Vision AI Companion, powered by generative AI, will be available on select 2025 Samsung Smart TVs and monitors. Samsung says the new feature builds on its existing Bixby voice assistant, aiming for more natural interactions, personalised content discovery, and integrated support within the home environment.
The company is rolling out the Vision AI Companion in Australia on eligible 2025 Smart TVs, with broader availability set to be announced in due course. The update will also launch later this month in Korea, North America, and certain European markets, with more regions to follow.
Personalisation and integration
Vision AI Companion brings together several of Samsung’s AI-driven display features, allowing users to converse naturally with their television, access contextual answers, and discover content more efficiently. It seeks to provide personalised recommendations and facilitate intuitive interactions across multiple devices in a connected home setting.
Kevin Lee, Executive Vice President of the Customer Experience Team at Samsung Electronics’ Visual Display Business, said the company is focusing on making entertainment technology more attuned to individual needs and future use cases.
“At Samsung, we’re investing in technology that makes experiences more personal, more intuitive, and built for the future,” said Kevin Lee. “With Vision AI Companion, we are redefining what a TV can do, going beyond picture quality and sound to deliver an experience that understands you, interacts with you and evolves with you over time.”
AI-powered interaction
According to Samsung, the Vision AI Companion stands out due to its capability to answer questions and respond using intelligent, visual outputs, facilitated by multiple in-built AI agents. Generative AI enables the system to handle follow-up questions and maintain conversational flow.
Vision AI Companion unifies several proprietary AI features into one platform. Among these are Generative Wallpaper, which displays dynamic visuals customised to user preferences, and AI Picture, Active Voice Amplifier Pro, and AI Upscaling Pro, which adjust display and sound settings based on the environment and content.
For those using their televisions for gaming, AI Gaming Mode is included to optimise performance and enhance user experience. Productivity is also a focal point, with AI agent apps such as Copilot by Microsoft and Perplexity available directly on the TV through Vision AI Companion.
Samsung states that integrating these functions removes the need to toggle between different apps or menus, making the TV or monitor a hub for tasks ranging from entertainment to productivity and device management.
Long-term support and updates
Samsung first unveiled the Vision AI concept at CES 2025, outlining its ambition to enhance users’ experiences across connected displays. The new Vision AI Companion is offered as part of the company’s ongoing commitment to providing seven years of software updates for supported models through the One UI Tizen platform. This commitment extends to regular security updates via Samsung Knox.
By incorporating Vision AI Companion into its product ecosystem, Samsung intends to increase the relevance of televisions as central devices within the connected home, supporting a range of new user needs and enabling more seamless device integration.
Details about compatibility, including which models and regions will receive Vision AI Companion, have been released in part, with further updates expected as the global rollout progresses. In Australia, consumers will see the new features on eligible 2025 TV models, while expansion to other models and markets will follow.
