Samsung has just unveiled the world’s first Perplexity AI-powered app for smart TVs. It brings artificial intelligence directly to your large living room screen. Samsung says that the new TV app with Perplexity AI transforms how people interact with their televisions. The app makes it easier to find information, discover content, and get instant answers without using a secondary device. Samsung has launched the new TV app as part of the Vision AI Companion platform, which it introduced at the IFA 2025 trade show last month. Its interface delivers visual answer cards optimized for big screens rather than simple text results. Samsung’s Perplexity AI-based TV app is a smart answer engine Samsung’s new TV app with Perplexity AI works as an answer engine that pulls information from verified sources in real time. Users can ask questions through voice commands or text input and receive conversational responses on the screen of their smart TVs. It can handle a wide range of queries. You can ask it to recommend the best movies for the Halloween season, find films directed by directors like the Russo Brothers, plan a vacation, or create fantasy sports lineups. The app shows results as large, high-quality visual cards, which the tech firms have designed specifically for TV screens. Samsung TV users can find the Perplexity AI app on their TV’s home screen under the Apps tab. You can also access it through the Vision AI Companion using the AI button on the TV remote. Once you grant microphone access, you can ask voice questions such as, “Which movies did James Cameron direct?”. You can also type queries using an onscreen or USB keyboard. Available now with free Perplexity Pro for a year The first-ever Perplexity-powered app for TVs is available right now for all 2025 Samsung TVs. Samsung will make it available for the users of 2023 and 2024 TVs via an OS update later this year. As part of the launch, Samsung and Perplexity are offering a free 12-month subscription to Perplexity Pro for all users. Interested users can scan the QR code on the Perplexity TV app to redeem the offer.
