Sam Thompson has labelled his best mate Pete Wicks as “rude” due to his behaviour during their car journeys together. The former I’m A Celebrity..Get Me Out of Here! winner and TOWIE star Pete became close friends after appearing on Celebs Go Dating. The 32-year–old Sam and Pete, aged 37, have maintained a tight-knit friendship since then, even co-hosting the Staying Relevant podcast. Just last week, the duo had the honour of hosting the red carpet at the National Television Awards. This required the pair to dash across London following the recording of their latest podcast episode. Sam quipped that this meant Pete would have to endure “an hour and a half in a car” with him constantly asking “are we there yet”. However, Pete was “thankful” for having his headphones at hand. In response, Sam retorted: “I find it really weird. Pete, whenever I’m in the f*****g car with him, will put his headphones on. It’s the rudest…how rude is that? He just literally goes, ‘Right, I’m down’, and then puts the headphones in and they’re wired.” Pete justified his actions by saying: “I’ll tell you why I do that, because it gives me time to listen to my breathing exercises and stuff. But also, because Sam sits next to me and just doomscrolls TikTok so all I hear in the background is TikTok music and trends.” Former Strictly star Pete went on to say he finds the trends “annoying” and has to listen “four times” as Sam scrolls past and goes back to it. He added: “It does my f*****g head in.” During a recent appearance on Loose Women and Men, Sam expressed his initial belief that he and Pete would become friends straight away. However, Pete had a different first impression, confessing he wasn’t fond of Sam initially. He confessed: “I couldn’t stand him. That’s the God’s honest truth, he did my head in because he was too much. “But then he stuck around and he was so persistent that I have grown to love him and now he’s not just my friend, he’s my brother and I wouldn’t want to do life without him, but he is very needy.” Pete reckons the pair “couldn’t be more different” and that’s what makes their friendship “works”. This comes as the pair recently backed a “two is more than one” campaign by Twix. Pete said: “We couldn’t be any more different, and that just works, so we (or more so Sam) jumped at the chance of combining our names. He’s gutted he didn’t think of it first. “Jokes aside, the best thing about our duo is we always have each other’s backs – and you can’t ask for more than that.”
