On October 27, Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov met with Sergio Gor, the U.S. Special Representative for South and Central Asia, and Christopher Landau, the U.S. Deputy Secretary of State. The minister shared the update on his official Telegram channel. According to the minister, the meeting was very cordial, comprehensive, and productive. ’’During our discussions, we highlighted the unprecedented pace of bilateral relations, emphasizing growth across all sectors, from trade and investment to education and innovation,’’ he said. The meeting also covered the timely and full implementation of all agreements reached between the Presidents of Uzbekistan and the United States, as well as prospective issues on the agenda of upcoming dialogues. ’’We have agreed to mobilize all available resources to further develop the expanded strategic partnership between the two countries,’’ the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized. Upon arriving in Uzbekistan, Sergio Gor and Christopher Landau met with US companies on October 25 to discuss numerous opportunities for enhancing mutual prosperity. On October 6, they explored Uzbekistan’s rich history and culture. Official photos released by the embassy show the US officials visiting the Islamic Civilization Center and the Chorsu Bazaar in Tashkent. They were accompanied by Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov and Jonathan Henick, the US Ambassador to Uzbekistan. Sergio Gor was born on November 30, 1986, in Tashkent and later pursued his education in the United States. He has been active in politics within the Republican Party, holding various positions in Donald Trump’s team, and is recognized as one of Trump’s closest associates. Gor served as Director of the White House Office of Presidential Personnel and actively participated in political campaigns. On August 22, 2025, Donald Trump nominated him for the post of Ambassador to India. He currently serves as the Special Representative for South and Central Asia. It is worth noting that on September 22, 2025, Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev received Sergio Gor, the US President’s Special Representative for South and Central Asia, at his residence during the events of the 80th UN General Assembly session.
