Sage Northcutt completes dramatic career change two years after his last MMA fight

Sage Northcutt was once tipped to be the UFC’s next big star.
The 29-year-old started his MMA career with five straight wins to get signed by Dana White.
‘Super’ quickly became a fan favorite due to his good looks, charming personality, and entertaining fight style.
However, Sage Northcutt’s career went downhill after he parted ways with the UFC following an impressive 6-2 run in the Octagon.
Sage Northcutt’s dramatic career change
Sage Northcutt signed for ONE Championship and made his debut for the promotion in May 2019.
It ended in disaster as Cosmo Alexandre brutally knocked him out inside 30 seconds at ONE: Enter the Dragon.
The crushing defeat led to Northcutt spending four years away from MMA before his return in May 2023.
Northcutt got a nasty submission victory in 39 seconds when he made his long-awaited comeback at ONE Fight Night 10.
More than two years later, he has not fought and appears to have no interest in continuing his MMA career.
On Wednesday, it was announced that Northcutt has just accepted a new job as a real estate agent.
It’s currently unclear if this officially ends Northcutt’s MMA career or if he plans to fight again in 2026.
Al Iaquinta quit MMA for real estate
Sage Northcutt is not the first MMA fighter to switch lanes for a career in real estate.
Al Iaquinta famously sold houses for much of his UFC run, which saw him fight Khabib Nurmagomedov, Jorge Masvidal, Dan Hooker, Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone, and more marquee names.
‘Raging’ recently shut down talk of an MMA comeback after fully committing himself to a career in real estate.
“I’m so busy in real estate and doing so well,” Iaquinta told Bloody Elbow’s Chris De Santiago.
“I’ve got such a great team there with the Serra-Longo guys. I go into the gym, I help out a little bit, I train, keep my juices flowing, keep my sanity in the gym…
“But then I’ve got the other side, the business side, which is just growing leaps and bounds every day.
“Being able to dedicate myself to the real estate, the way I was dedicated to fighting—there’s not a broker [or] agent on Long Island or in the country that could hang with me. I really, truly believe that.”
