LIMPOPO – Controversial South African rapper Shebeshxt is reportedly under investigation for attempted murder, after he reportedly shot and seriously wounded another motorist during a road rage incident earlier this month. The “Ke Di Shxt Malume” hitmaker, whose real name is Lehlogonolo Katlego Chauke, had a heated exchange on the road with the motorist, which continued when they pulled up at a petrol station. According to the police, an exchange of insults escalated, and Shebeshxt allegedly drew a firearm and shot the man in his stomach before fleeing the scene. The alleged victim is reportedly still fighting for his life at the Intensive Care Unit of a local Polokwane hospital. Limpopo police have since opened a case of attempted murder, which has been transferred to the provincial murder and robbery unit for further investigation. The Limpopo police spokesperson Col Malesela Ledwaba told the Polokwane Review-Observer that the investigation stems from an incident that occurred on October 19 in Polokwane. “The case has since been taken over by the Murder and Robbery Unit following instructions from the provincial police commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe. The team has been directed to investigate with a view to arrest, not the other way around,” Ledwaba said. He added that the investigation has intensified, with detectives tightening loose ends, and that an arrest is considered “imminent”. This is not the first time the rapper has found himself in trouble with the law. Earlier this year, a video of Shebeshxt engaging in an altercation involving a large knife circulated on social media. In the video, the rapper appeared to be aggravated as he unzipped his Nike jacket, pulled out a large object appearing to be a knife, and lunged it at the victim. In 2022, the rapper was charged with attempted murder when he was accused of stabbing a man in Lebowakgomo, Limpopo.
