EXCLUSIVE: Filming is underway in Tulsa, Oklahoma on Road to Recovery, written and directed by Scout Taylor-Compton, star of Rob Zombie’s Halloween movies. The drama stars Ryan Kiera Armstrong (Star Wars: Skeleton Crew) and Freddie Prinze Jr. (I Know What You Did Last Summer), alongside Cameron Crovetti, Thomas Lennon, Marley Shelton, Tyler Mane, and Cerina Vincent. Produced by Tom O’Connell for Building Blocks Productions, Amy Covell for Red Phoenix Productions, alongside co-producers Talia Bella and Randy Wayne for Rebellium Films, Road to Recovery follows a father and his terminally ill daughter who embark on a cross-country trip to find the boy she loves. Along the way, the two are forced to confront their shared grief and redefine what it means to hold on and let go. Taylor-Compton wrote the film following the death of her mother from cancer, drawing from her own experience. “I wrote Road to Recovery in the middle of my grief,” Taylor-Compton said. “It became less about loss and more about love, the kind that stays with you long after someone’s gone.” Road to Recovery marks the first project under Taylor-Compton’s new banner Building Blocks Productions, which will focus on “emotionally driven, character-centered storytelling”. The film is expected to complete production later this fall, with a festival run eyed for 2026. Prinze Jr. is represented by Paradigm, Brillstein Entertainment Partners, and Yorn Levine.
