Russell Crowe’s shredded physique helped launch his movie career into the stratosphere as the main character of 2000’s Gladiator, but that was 25 years ago. Recently, Crowe, 61, decided he wasn’t happy with his appearance and decided to make a change. That decision served as the impetus for shedding 57 pounds, resulting in the Academy Award winner looking much more trim these days. On the latest episode of “The Joe Rogan Experience,” Crowe sat down with the host and explained his weight loss methods. There were two major factors Crowe cited: reduced alcohol consumption and Ways2Well, a health services company utilized by Rogan, Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, rapper Jelly Roll and others. Cutting back on booze essential for Crowe A glass of “really nice wine” with dinner is fine, Crowe said, but the New Zealand-born performer has tried to eliminated casual drinking, or “having a drink for the sake of it.” “We normalize both drinking and wagering, but we never look at the damage they cause,” Crowe told Rogan, via the New York Post. “I’m a big proponent for having a drink. It’s my cultural heritage and, as a working-class man, it’s my g—–n right, Joe. But as you get older, there are certain things you start to learn about your capacities.” What is Ways2Well? Described on its website as a company that helps individuals “take control of their health by providing advanced, preventive care that go beyond traditional healthcare models,” Ways2Well was founded by Brigham Buhler and has two in-person clinics, a Longevity Lab in Austin, Texas and another facility in Houston. “Through innovative diagnostic testing, physician-guided treatment plans, and a focus on whole-body wellness, we empower people to identify potential health concerns early and make informed decisions for a healthier future,” the Ways2Well site reads. Crowe, who was introduced to the company by Rogan, says he has been receiving a number of injections that have helped “calm down my body’s inflammation.” “I’ve probably connected with them about five times since that first time, and the real benefit I’m getting that I think, right, because I’m not completely over the science, but it seems to be with these injections that I’ve been getting into my shoulders, my knees, but also these IVs,” Crowe explained. “Ways2Well was a great call for me because it’s calmed down a bunch of stuff. It’s taking a bunch of pain away so I can go and work out and not have to suffer for two or three hours afterwards.” Professionally, Crowe had a major role in 2025’s Nuremberg, and is also featured in four upcoming films, three of which are in post-production.
