“Running Point” is building out its cast for Season 2 with the addition of eight recurring guest stars.
The new additions to the Netflix basketball comedy are: Robert Townsend (The Bear, Before), Ken Marino (The Residence, The Other Two), Tommy Dewey (Casual, Saturday Night), Richa Moorjani (Never Have I Ever, Fargo), Jake Picking (Top Gun: Maverick, Hollywood), Blake Anderson (Workaholics, Game Over, Man!), Duby Maduegbunam (Caught Up, Sistas), and Aliyah Turner (Power Book III: Raising Kanan).

In addition, recurring cast members Justin Theroux and Uche Agada have both been upped to series regular status for Season 2.
The new additions will appear alongside returning cast members Kate Hudson, Drew Tarver, Scott MacArthur, Brenda Song, Fabrizio Guido, Chet Hanks, and Toby Sandeman. Returning recurring guest stars include Max Greenfield, Jay Ellis, Roberto Sanchez, Jon Glaser, Scott Evans, Rob Huebel, Marissa Reyes, Justin Hurtt-Dunkley.
“Running Point” originally debuted on Netflix in February and was quickly renewed for a second season. The show ultimately spent five weeks in Netflix’s Global English Top 10 TV chart.
The official Season 1 synopsis states:
“When a scandal forces her brother to resign, Isla Gordon ( Hudson) is appointed president of the Los Angeles Waves, one of the most storied professional basketball franchises, and her family business. Ambitious and often overlooked, Isla will have to prove to her skeptical brothers, the board, and the larger sports community that she was the right choice for the job.”
Mindy Kaling, Ike Barinholtz, and David Stassen serve as writers and executive producers, with Stassen also serving as showrunner. Hudson executive produces in addition to starring. Howard Klein, Jeanie Buss, and Linda Rambis also executive produce, with Jordan Rambis producing. The series is produced by Mindy Kaling’s Kaling International in association with Warner Bros. Television, where Kaling is under an overall deal.

Robert Townsend plays “Norm Stinson” – An excellent (and grouchy) veteran basketball coach who knows how to get the best out of his teams, but not always how to communicate.
Ken Marino plays “Al Fleischman” – The self-appointed “toilet king of Orange County” who wants better courtside seats to the Los Angeles Waves.
Tommy Dewey plays “Magnus” – The general manager of the Toronto Trappers.
Richa Moorjani plays “Aruna” – The Los Angeles Waves’ incredibly blunt star accountant who can finagle her way around any number of financial hurdles.
Jake Picking plays “Tommy White” – The Los Angeles Waves’ new pretty-boy star point guard.
Blake Anderson plays “Leroy” – Cam’s wild, sober companion.
Duby Maduegbunam plays “Benson” – The newest basketball player on the Los Angeles Waves.
Aliyah Turner plays “Zoé Debay” -A beautiful and confident former child star who’s now on the verge of becoming an A-list actress.
